About the Artist
Gail Grinnell (Seattle) graduated with a BFA in painting from the University of Washington in 1988 and is currently represented by G. Gibson Gallery in Seattle. She has participated in residencies at the Centrum Foundation, in 1993 and 1990;  Fundación Valparaíso in Mojácar, Spain, 2007; Ballinglen Arts Foundation, Ireland, 2008 and 2010; and the Jentel Foundation, Wyoming in 2010.  Grinnell has received grants and awards from Artist Trust, Seattle Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs, and 4Culture, King County, WA. In 2012 she created RUFFLE, a site-specific installation for the Suyama Space in Seattle. In 2014 she developed “angle of repose” (with Sam Wildman), a large-scale temporary work for the sculpture court of the Boise Art Museum in Boise, Idaho. Her work has been published in periodicals such as Sculpture Magazine, Art Ltd, Fiber Arts Magazine, The Seattle Times, The Stranger, City Arts, Willamette Week, Artweek, New American Paintings, Studio Visit and others.

Artist Trust is pleased to announce it 2015 Fellowship recipients and The Millay Colony of the Arts residencies! The following artists were selected for their artistic achievement, dedication to an artistic discipline, and potential for further professional development. 14 artists working in emerging fields/cross-disciplinary, performing, traditional/folk and visual arts will each receive $7,500 of unrestricted funds. In addition, Artist Trust has partnered with The Millay Colony for the Arts in upstate New York to award one applicant each in the emerging/cross-disciplinary and visual arts with a one-month residency and a $1,000 stipend.

In addition, artists will be fulfilling their award during the year by participating in a Meet the Artist event held outside their place of residency yet within Washington State.
