This month, a new 11-foot bronze sculpture by Seattle artist Saya Moriyasu will be unveiled and at Batik Plaza (860 Yesler Way) in the Yesler Terrace neighborhood just east of Pioneer Square. This sculpture was commissioned by Vulcan, Inc. The 11-foot bronze sculpture of a woman “Maya” will be prominently installed along Yesler Way. The artist has named the figure “Maya” whom she says “guides, protects and cares for us.” A community event with the artist to celebrate Spring and Mother’s Day has been set for Friday, May 11th.  We hope you can join us and help Saya celebrate her first major permanent public art project.
